Washington, DC - The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) made a vibrant introduction to the 119th Congress this week by delivering boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables to the newly elected freshman members. This initiative spread the joy of fresh produce while emphasizing its unique ability to tackle leading issues like diet-related disease and food insecurity.
IFPA staff personally delivered produce boxes to more than 75 new House representatives and U.S. senators, showcasing the vitality and diversity of the fresh produce industry. Along with the produce, each box contained educational materials that highlighted the industry's significant economic contributions of the fresh produce and floral supply chain.
Throughout the day, IFPA staff built valuable new connections, underscored the economic impact of the fresh produce sector and presented the association's top priorities.
These interactions marked the launch IFPA’s “Fresh Faces of Congress” program, designed to foster ongoing relationships between industry members and lawmakers. The “Fresh Faces” virtual meeting series will bring together our members from across the country to meet directly with new members of Congress and staff. This opportunity is exclusive to IFPA members, who can subscribe to receive updates as these meetings are scheduled.
IFPA’s commitment to strengthening connections and advocating for the fresh produce and floral supply chain ensures the industry remains at the forefront of policy discussions, tackling critical issues while promoting health and wellness nationwide.
